Miscellaneous Videos from Japan

I made the following videos during my time spent teaching and living in Japan.

Miyazaki Nishi High School.  Each year, Miyazaki Nishi High School had a field day for the incoming freshmen.  It was a time for them to get to know each other and the teachers.  I made a video of the event each year to show to the students at the end of their first year as a part of a reflection activity.

Omiya English Camp Trailer.
I made this video as a motivational tool for later classes in anticipation of the annual English Camp.

宮崎西高MRT Commercial.  This video aired on local TV in Japan.  It highlights the school where I taught.  Miyazaki Nishi High School is a high level academic school with an elite, attached junior high school.

My Students' Taiko Circle

I made this video while I was a teacher at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University.  I had several students in the Taiko drumming circle.  They are amazing.

Singing the US National Anthem at a baseball game in Japan.

A minor league baseball team was touring Japan playing matched across Japan.  When their manager came to the town where I was living, they asked if the city hall could suggest a local American who could sing the US national anthem before the game.  They suggested me.  I sang it.  And I missed the high note.  But I love this video for a different reason.  At the end of my singing, the Japanese announcer calls my name and the school where I taught.  At the same time, the giant pink Mascot for the American team walk onto the field into the frame of the camera.  IF you didn't know I was the one signing, you may think that I was the giant pink mascot.  I was NOT the giant pink mascot!
